Niamh Twomey, Hertiage Officer, Strategic Planning and Economic Development Directorate, Cork City Council.

I have been invited by the Cork College of Commerce to be a guest lecturer for the Tourism and Heritage course for the last number of years. As Heritage Officer with Cork City Council it is something that I really enjoy doing. It is one of the aims of the Cork City Heritage Plan 2015-2020 communicate the Heritage message to a wider audience and to support education research and training and this is an opportunity for me to speak with the students attending this course. I feel that I learn as much as I impart information and it is always interesting for me to hear the opinions and challenges of those working in a sector with such a close link to Heritage. This feedback is invaluable to me.  The students are always interested and attentive and the commitment and dedication of the teaching staff of the Cork College of Commerce is evident in the exciting, challenging and proactive learning environment they provide for their students. In particular I was very impressed with the number and quality of the site visits undertaken by the group which I feel is crucial to the learning experience of the students. I believe the Cork College of Commerce is a very student focused educational institution which seeks to provide both academic skills and knowledge but also the practical experience and personal confidence required for the students to succeed in their chosen careers

Adele Ward  Account Director, Southern Marketing Design  Media.

As an Account Director in Southern Marketing Design Media, I was invited a number of years ago by the Cork College of Commerce to be a Guest Lecturer for the Marketing with Advertising and Public Relations course. From the outset, I was extremely impressed with the teaching staff of the Cork College of Commerce as they are professional, committed and always eager to provide an exciting, challenging and proactive learning environment for their students. The marketing and advertising industry is constantly evolving, and my objective when speaking to the students is to provide them with a practical insight into the day-to-day activities which I am responsible for within our agency, thereby marrying theoretical knowledge with industry practice. The students are always interested, attentive, enthusiastic and keen to learn, as is evident from the lively Q&A sessions held at the end of each lecture. Cork College of Commerce is an innovative, forward-thinking college that works very closely with numerous industry sectors to ensure that all students are provided with necessary skills, knowledge and expertise required to succeed in their chosen careers.

Maria Murphy

‘Corporate Travel Management has worked closely with the Cork College of Commerce for a number of years by offering work experience opportunities to their Travel & Tourism Students. Due to the success of these placements, when we are recruiting new corporate team members we engage with the college to identify students that are suitable for the positions available. The college offers students an excellent foundation and understanding of the travel industry and GDS systems. With this knowledge, new recruits are immediately capable of assisting our team and we help them build their knowledge of the industry by providing ongoing training programs, encouraging them to progress and build a career within the industry. ‘
