When I got my results last year I knew I wouldn’t get the course I wanted. After a while I realised that my best option is to repeat. It wasn’t as hard as everyone made it out to be, and I actually enjoyed my time in College of Commerce. I made good friends, the teachers and staff were really nice and I’m on track to get my course. Being here was fun, while also helping to significantly improve my results. So overall, I would definitely recommend College of Commerce to anyone who fell short of the course they wanted.
Like many people entering the Repeat Leaving Cert course in College of Commerce, I had low expectations. I thought it was going to be a miserable year watching my friends go into College while I had to resit the leaving cert. It wasn’t. This college has a completely different atmosphere to that of secondary schools. You’re treated like an adult and have more freedom. Obviously I had to work hard, but the change in environment, better facilities and high standard of teachers made this year enjoyable for me in a way it wasn’t last year. It also gave me more time to think about what I really wanted to do, and I’m now in a position where I know I’m going into a course that I’m going to love instead of dropping out because I settled for something I didn’t really want to do(like some people I know). I’m also going into college having made really good friends, who were all in the same boat I was. Repeating the leaving cert was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made.
I have learnt many valuable life lessons from my time at Cork College of Commerce. The staff and students there helped me to understand the importance of having a balance between study and life. I now know that it is essential to be focussed in school to achieve your goal but that it is also necessary to maintain a social life so that your mental health is positive. A positive mentality is crucial for success and through the independence I was granted this year at Cork College of Commerce I learned how to balance both. I strongly believe that this will aid me in university and throughout the rest of my life. I was treated like an adult in Cork College of Commerce and this allowed me to become much more independent and mature. It was more than a school for me because as well as learning the leaving cert curriculum, I also learned many things about myself. I am feeling confident for the upcoming exams and I am very grateful to all the staff who have been extremely supportive all year. Repeating the leaving cert is no joke but I am glad that I decided to come to Cork College of Commerce this year.
Repeating the Leaving Cert was one of the hardest decisions I’ve ever had to make, but that decision was made so much easier by the support of College of Commerce. After being unable to sit the Leaving Cert the year before due to illness, they were so supportive and accommodating of my situation and were so helpful in making up for the work that I missed and preparing me for my exams. It’s a much more relaxed environment to secondary school and it makes it much easier to talk to teachers about any problems you have or anything you need to go over. The standard of teaching is at a very high level and I would definitely recommend college of commerce to anyone that is thinking of repeating the Leaving Cert.
Making the decision to go back to repeat my leaving cert when all my friends were moving on to study courses that they love was a difficult one. However, one week in know I had made the right choice of school to repeat in. The structure of the course and the support I received from staff and the course director from the very beginning was second to none. In my opinion I definitely made the right choice and couldn’t be happier with my choice. Cork College of Commerce has definitely made this year easier.
Repeating my leaving cert after a five year break was made easy thanks to all at college of commerce, especially considering I remained training and boxing throughout the year, competing national and international. I also managed to remain a full time blogger and sponsored fitness athlete.
I was anxious and worried before starting that I wouldn’t cover all material after such a long break but the teachers and study advisor made everything easy and all essentials and more were covered. I felt confident and comfortable going into my exams, feeling I’d achieve what I sent out to do.
I would highly recommend college of commerce. I am now studying midwifery in U.L. Sarah Kiely RLC 2015 2016
I knew that repeating the leaving was always an option if I didn’t get the points I needed. However, when it came down to it, repeating was the hardest decision I’ve ever had to make. The majority of my friends were going off to college, while I was preparing to do it all over again. I knew repeating was necessary to achieve my future goals.
I was uncertain of how a two year course could be minimised into one year, however it soon became clear to me that through the work of the course director, the teachers and the facilities of the college all collaborated to make it happen.
I would highly recommend anyone considering repeating the Leaving Certificate to do so in the Cork College of Commerce. The year was extremely worthwhile, it has brought me nearer to achieving my goals as it can for you. What’s one more year out of the rest of your life? I am now studying Veterinary Medicine in UCD. Repeating me leaving cert was certainly the biggest decision I have ever had to make for myself . This year the staff in the college of commerce have enabled me to get better grades in all of my subjects and this is down to the expertise and patience of the teachers some of whom are the best teachers I’ve ever had. Deciding to repeat in the College of Commerce was definitely the hardest decision I’ve ever made but I’m pretty sure it has also been one of the best!
